Prostate Not Prostrate
When Silence is the Real Thief
Play Featuring Patty Dumplin & Supporting Role by Osbourne Taylor
Devised and written by Lisa Jackson & Nottingham Community Champions, directed by Jim Findley, commissioned by Orchid
Get ready to laugh AND learn with Prostate Not Prostrate! This bold new play uses comedy to tackle the silence around prostate cancer.
Developed with Orchid Community Champions in Nottingham, it’s packed with Patty Dumplin’s signature humour and heart.
Each year in the UK, over 55,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, and more than 12,000 lose their lives to the disease.
Black men face twice the risk, making it more important than ever to break the silence, start the conversation, and take action.

Prostate Awareness
Mon0lisa Productions has been working with Orchid Cancer Appeal and their inspiring Community Champions in Nottingham. It’s all about spreading awareness, teaching others, and making sure more men get the knowledge that could save their lives.
Notts Community Champions
The Nottingham Community Champions are volunteers, local men with lived experience of prostate cancer, trained by Orchid Cancer Appeal to reach men in their own communities. They play a vital role in raising awareness, sharing knowledge, and encouraging conversations that can lead to earlier diagnosis and better outcomes. Formed in 2022 under Orchid's National 'Breaking Barriers' programme.
Orchid Cancer Appeal is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to male cancers. They provide vital support services, fund pioneering research, and work tirelessly to raise awareness of prostate, testicular, and penile cancers. Through education and outreach, Orchid helps men and their families access life-saving knowledge and resources.
